Video Series - Bing Surfboards

We just received our spring order of boards from Bing Surfboards! We are very stoked to be working with Matt, Margaret and the rest of the crew there. If you are not familiar with the brand, here is what they say about themselves on their facebook page:

Mission: To build quality hand-made surfboards in the USA with age-old proven materials and methods.

History: Bing Surfboards was founded by Bing Copeland. He opened his first surf shop in the fall of 1959 with his friend Rick Stoner and became one of the major surfboard manufactures of the sixties and early seventy's. Matt Calvani took over Bing in 2000. Since then he along with his wife, Bing General Manager, Margaret Calvani and the rest of the Bing Crew relocated the factory from Hermosa Beach, California to the infamous "Hill" in Encinintas, CA. "The Hill" was made famous for its surfboard manufacturing, producing brands such as Channin, Velzy, Surfboards Hawaii, Yater, Tudor Surfboards and more.

Last spring, we got the chance to tour the "infamous Hill" factory and meet everybody. Here is a quick video of that day along with some sweet footage of their team riders putting the boards to the test.

Here is a list of the boards we received and links to them on our website:

1. 6'8 Pintail Mini - If you want a board that catches waves with ease and turns on a dime, this is it!

2. 9'6 Silver Spoon - Looking to get your first traditional noserider, this is a good place to start!

3. 5'10 Swee' Pea - Ideal for intermediate to advanced surfers, looking for a small-wave board that will handle up to double overhead conditions.

Welcome to the team Justin Buford! Justin has been a part of the shop since we opened in 2010. He was a true local grom who would spend his days skateboarding in our parking lot and washing rental wetsuits when he wasn’t in school. His family lived just up the street and his step-dad is one of the best surfers in town. His brother-in-law comes from the legendary South County Surf family the Ledbetters. Surfing is who and what Justin is, it’s in his blood.
