Coastal Craft Shaper Profile: Chris Bauer

Our fourth featured shaper for the Inaugural Coastal Craft Event is Chris Bauer, from Bauer Surfboards. Chris resides in Port Angeles, Washington, where he shapes and glasses all his boards. Get to know Chris a little better below, and come watch him shape a fish in person on September 15th!

Coastal Craft: Where did you get your start and why?

Chris Bauer: I got my start in the professional industry at a little repair shop in San Diego called joe ropers ding repair and custom fiberglass. Then onto many other factories in the San Diego and Santa Barbara regions.

CC: Where are your board shaped and sold?

CB: My boards are shaped and glassed in Port Angeles Washington in my own personal factory. I also retail stock boards out of the same facility in my showroom/ surf shop storefront.

CC: What's your go to board to shape and surf in the PNW?

CB: My personal northwest quiver consists of a log, a fish, and a shortboard. Because no day is the same up here.

CC: What draws you to this event?

CB: I enjoy this event for the vibes, and the opportunity to connect with the Oregon surf crowd. I received great exposure from this event.

CC: What do you want visitors to take away from this event?

CB: I hope visitors from the event realize that there’s great boards being built up here. I also hope to inspire people to try different designs and expand their surfboard knowledge and future board selection.

*** Don't forget, the fish Chris is going to shape along with all the other boards shaped during the event will be available at our silent auction, with all proceeds going towards the Pacific City Skatepark!
