It's hard to believe the 16th Cape Kiwanda Longboard contest has come and gone. A good portion of this years entrants weren't even born when the contest started. Even more humbling is being in the 18 - 29 year old category when it started and now surfing in the 40 - 49 yr old division (insert expletive here). But one thing that hasn't changed is the excitement of putting on a jersey and going out in whatever mother nature is handing out those 2 long surf days. This year was no exception as the surf was pumping the first day and folks were having to negotiate their way out with their 9' + longboards (visions of Big Wednesday). So congrats to all the groms, boys, girls, men and women that rose to the challenge of this years contest.
It takes about 40 volunteers to put this event together. With a record number of participants and beach spectators enjoying this years event, they were all put to work . We want to thank all of those folks who took time away from their friends and family to make this contest happen. This event wouldn't be possible without your help.
Thank you volunteers, bands, DJ John, judges, artists, sponsors, contributors and all those involved for making this another banner year for the future Pacific City Skate Park!
A big shoutout to:
