Moment Surf Company Group Surf Lessons

“Do we offer large group surf lessons?” This is a question we get asked all the time. The answer is yes! We can handle groups of various sizes and abilities. The following is a testimony from a group of 24 students that learned to surf with us a few weeks back:

“Just wanted to let you know what an amazing experience our students had learning how to surf this past weekend!!! The instructors that worked with our class were so helpful, patient and supportive and all of the kids had a great experience; now that we are back home, they are already asking for us to repeat the class next year and many of them are planning ways to get out surfing again this year! It was so wonderful to see how the experience changed our students- I really don't have the words to describe it but it seemed like you could actually see how much this uniquely positive experience of catching a wave built up their self-esteem and confidence in themselves!

I really appreciate your help in planning everything and the work of all of the surf instructors and Moment employees who were all so great with our students! With such a big group, I was worried we might be overwhelming and get in the way of other customers (hopefully this didn't happen!) but all of the Moment employees were so kind and helpful and the kids were just enthralled with them. One of the best things was that even after our lesson, when some of the students ran into the instructors, they felt comfortable enough to ask question and the instructors never hesitated to take the time to talk with them and give them pointers.

We can't thank you all enough for giving our students this amazing experience! The students made a thank you poster which I sent in the mail the other day.

Thank you again!

“How would you describe the Cape Kiwanda Longboard Classic” is a question I get asked during interviews ahead of each year’s contest. The simple answer is to say that it’s a local surf contest put on by a dedicated group of volunteers. The truth is that the contest is something more than that. It has its own soul. It has a life that we and the organizers before us can’t take credit for. I would like to think we had something to do with it, but the reality is the Cape Kiwanda Longboard Classic has become something far beyond anything anyone ever imagined.

It's that time of year again, and we're opening registration for our 2025 Youth Surf Camps! Youth surf camps are open to kids ages 10 - 16 with some flexibility, and all levels are welcome!

Both cheers of support and loud laughter were heard throughout Pacific City this past weekend as surfers and spectators gathered on the beach to root on the participants in the annual Cape Kiwanda Longboard Classic. This year marks the 25th running of the beloved community event.
Started in 1998 by Bob and Michelle Ledbetter, the contest has grown to become a staple of the NW surf community. It not only attracts surfers throughout Oregon, but this year saw people from Canada, California, Washington and even Hawaii make the pilgrimage.
