"…Lost is whatever you think it is.", the closing statement of their history on their website, shows that they are a surf brand that is different than the others. They started as a group of skaters, snowboarders, and surfers who weren't interested in sports or surf contests. They were, and still are, "team lost".
That doesn't mean that they weren't driven, though. Matt Biolos, who still oversees the business and designs the boards, is truly an expert. They figured out how to run a business as they went. Even though they did it in a somewhat rebellious and unconventional way, they've been successful. Now, almost 30 years later, their unique brand and style is still as unique and strong as ever.
Ultimately, it's the quality of their surfboard shapes that makes the brand as popular as it is. The shapes have been refined over the years and they've been proven to be some of the best high performance shapes out there.
We just received our spring order! Here is the list of the boards we brought in and links to each to see photos and additional information:
One is a 5'8 The RV model. It's truly a recreational vehicle. While it's still a relatively high performance board, it has plenty of volume throughout the whole board, making wave catching easier.
The next is a 5'10 Weekend Warrior model. This model is built for small waves, while still having a pointed nose. It's a great way to have fun in small waves without having to resort to the typical "small wave" boards that are wider and thicker the whole way through.
We're also bringing in a 6'0 RNF5. This is the Round Nose Fish, and it's the worlds all time best selling fish model. It's a great all around board for Oregon waves.
Next is a 6'2 V2 Shortboard. This is a true high performance shortboard, but it still has just a little extra volume in all the right places to help get into waves a little earlier. It's a proven contest winning board, and it would be a great board for the bigger or punchier days we sometimes get.
Last, we're bringing in a 5'10 V3 Rocket. This is a fishy board for guys who don't ride fishes. If you like to ride short boards and are looking for a one board quiver, this would be a good choice. It handles a variety of conditions. It still feels fast, stable, and squirty in small waves, while performing great in waves that are well overhead too.
We chose these board models wisely for the types of waves we get around here, so we hope you like them.
We travelled down to the …Lost warehouse to see and learn about the board models firsthand. Check out some footage from that trip here, along with some surf footage (courtesy of …Lost).
